The reason things changed for me is that I’d had enough of a certain standard of living; of not seeing my family; of working with a certain type of client.
I had had enough.
What have you had enough of so far? If you raised your Standard in that area of your life, what would change? What could you do?
Daily Standards may be seen in even the tiniest of detail, the unpolished shoes, the old shoelaces. You don’t need much money to polish your shoes and change your shoelaces and yet by doing so, you are making a statement about the Standards that you live by.
In what area of your life could you raise your Standard? Which of your current Standards are letting you down right now and preventing you from achieving all you want to achieve?
New Standards change your behaviour. When you make a decision about who you are and who you are not, particularly if it’s around relationships or business, you can immediately become that person. You don’t have to wait five or ten years to achieve your goal. Adopting a new Standard changes the way you treat yourself, as well as the way other people treat you.
Adopting a new Standard, changes the way you are in the world.
As with goals, the bigger and scarier the Standards you set, the more you will stretch to comply with them. The reaching for the Standards will cause you to do things quite differently and will make your life change. Whether you want a new job, to start a new business, to change the business you’re running now, to have better quality relationships with family and friends; whatever you want to have change, create the Standard by which you will live from now and stick to it.
